Another warm and sunny day for Wednesday thanks to high pressure sitting to our south. On Thursday, that high will begin to give way to a strong storm system moving in from the west, which will give us a chance of strong to severe thunderstorms Thursday night into Friday.
Cooler temperatures are in store for Monday afternoon due to a cool front moving through early Monday morning. Warmer towards mid week before another cold front moves through Thursday night with another chance for rain and thunderstorms.
Here’s the SLU News 22 broadcast for this week. Top stories include Homecoming events from this weekend, a H1N1 update, Pius library increases hours, Billiken Sports, and Billiken weather.
An area of low pressure will be moving through the region Saturday afternoon, bringing an increased chance for showers and thunderstorms. Rain should be exiting the area by evening, just in time for the soccer game and fireworks display. A quick warm up on Sunday into the 80s before a cold front brings temperatures sharply down into the lower 70s or upper 60s on Monday.
Monday morning will be mostly cloudy with a few isolated showers, but by the afternoon, we should see some clearing and highs right around 80 degrees. Monday evening rain chances will increase again as a large area of low pressure begins to push a cold front in our direction, however the storm system will stall out and then drift to the south and west, taking with it the chance for showers and thunderstorms. By mid week, the showers and storms should be out of the area, setting the stage for a great finish to the week.
The weekend should see a continuation of our very warm temperatures and dry conditions. Highs both Saturday and Sunday should be in the low 80s. A strange weather pattern will allow for a storm system developing along the Gulf of Mexico to sneak up from the south east and potential bring some rain showers or thunderstorms to the area by Monday.
